The vapor density is 2.4 times that of air, and the vapor pressure is 36.6kPa at 20℃ and 69kPa at 38℃. Density (20℃)0.745g/cm³. Flash point (closed cup)-37℃, flammable. Spontaneous combustion temperature 361℃. The explosion limit (volume fraction) in air is 1.5% to 8.7%. The TLV/TWA limit is generally 600cm³/m³. General cyclopentane products should be colorless transparent liquid, no mechanical impurities, no suspended matter.

Characteristics And Uses

Cyclopentane ozone depletion potential (ODP value) and global warming potential (GWP value) are zero, as a rigid polyurethane foam blowing agent, to replace the atmospheric ozone layer destruction of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC-11), mainly used in fluorine-free refrigerators, freezers, water heaters and cold storage, pipeline insulation and other fields. The solubility of cyclopentane in polyether polyols is small, generally need to use low viscosity polyether polyols, cyclopentane can be mixed with isopentane. Cyclopentane has flammable and explosive characteristics, the explosion limit (1.4-8.0) %, the fire will be classified as a Class A B fire object. Cyclopentane is also a volatile organic compound, with a volatilization rate of 8.5Kg/m² per hour and a slight irritating odor. Therefore, there are strict requirements for production equipment, workshops, transportation and storage, and high requirements for the quality and safety of enterprise employees. Cyclopentane itself is low toxic, and has the function of deester, once in contact with the skin or splashed in the eyes, should be immediately washed with water. Once the cyclopentane leaks, it should be diluted and dispersed with the inert gas nitrogen immediately.

Cyclopentane does not contain halogens, has a short life span in the atmosphere, is easy to decompose safely, and does not damage the ozone layer. Cyclopentane GWP is very small. (GWP(Greenhouse Warming Potential) stands for global warming potential. The smaller the GWP value, the better the environmental characteristics of the refrigerant)
The thermal conductivity of cyclopentane is small. It can meet the technical requirements of insulation performance of most household appliances.
